Burton Video: It’s Always Snowing Somewhere

By Rocky Thompson on August 13th, 2008

It’s Always Snowing Somewhere rings of an Endless-Summer-style snowboard movie, but Burton videos are always top notch. Not to mention that last year each movie came with two copies so you could give one to a friend to spread the stoke. Say what you want about their ripped-off style, Burton has the right idea when it comes to self promotion and moving the industry (and their own interests, of course) forward.

It’s not so much that they have a ripped off style, they certainly do use a style and a method that other movies have used before them. (after all they’ve only just started to release their own movies, before it was solely funding) They just rip off a style and then take it to a whole new level of overkill (Quite much like their approach to a lot of things) With the movie though it gets to the point that if it aired on MTV it would fit right in with all the other “fast paced” and “extreme” content. Fast cuts and heaps of much slow-mo, it’s what the kids want, so regardless of how tasteless it may be to have 40+ minutes of it strung together, it will sell a hell of a lot.

High budget and High Def cameras don’t make a good movie.

To see the Burton Backlash read Powder Mag 2009 Buyers Guide, Vol 37, #1 page 37. Writer Hans Ludwig’s “Poach Roast” sticks it to Sir Jake and his lemmings. The irony is Jake contributes to good causes, guess he’s got money to burn or doesn’t have control of what his lesser employees are pushing. Rocky T would have a field day with Ludwigs’ biting comments.
