
You’ll need a printer and some tape, so they’re not completely free. I mean, it’s not like some kid is handing them out on the street corner because half the map’s covered in ads. You can get any U.S. topographical map from the USGS Store for free if you print it yourself, or you can order maps for $6 each. Printing your own maps is nice because you can crop only what you need instead of dealing with two maps you cut in half and taped together. You can also download an overlay for Google Earth that will add topographical lines if you don’t need to print the maps.
