Collapsible Skateboard Snaps Apart for Jetsetting Skaters

It looks like some rejects from the Transformer movie merchandising are finally making it to market with the Port-a-Board Skateboard. The aluminum board snaps apart so you can stuff the trucks and wheels into a pocket of your backpack and strap the deck on the outside. The constant clamor from skaters for an easy-air-travel skateboard hasn’t achieved a fever pitch, and as much as I like the idea of skaters with collapsible boards outnumbering business travelers and their laptops, this thing just isn’t going to work. Aluminum deck aside, no one wants to worry their board’s going to fly apart in midair.

It’s not that hard to bring a normal deck onto an airplane.

    Are skateboards really that big?
Did the really have to make them collapsible

I have traveled many times with my skate deck strapped to my backpack, walked through security and got on a plane….no problems.

I was at LAX and a skater had a great time skating right to the gate! Floor wax might be a challenge, I guess if it x rays, who cares…
