Do-It-Yourself Wooden Bike Doesn’t Look Too Complicated

board-bike

It looks like some kid begged his out-of-work dad for a bike on his birthday. Erik Bjork is the industrial designer who put together this bike with low-cost materials. I’m not sure how much it weighs, but you can bet those tubes aren’t double-butted. At first it struck me as ugly as hell, but I’ll admit that it’s really grown on me. I bet I could put my own wooden bike together in a year or two.

son: dad….I took my bike off a jump and broke it again…can you fix it with some new wood?

dad: Son, I can’t keep putting new wood on this bike everyday, stop taking it off jumps.

Well I´m glad you like it.

My weight is 75 kilogram and no it is not as strong as the Meta 4X I ride in the woods but works fine in the streets even though I get stopped every five minutes for questions. And actually there is no tubes only 2″x2″ construction timber (pine).

    Best Regards

    Erik

You cheated, I see metal in the spokes, the cranks, and I bet that chain isn’t made out of wood! For a second there I thought you were saying the BIKE was 75kg which would have made stopping on that fixie quite interesting “objects in motion stay in motion” or however it goes.

I think the next attempt should involve sugar cubes.
