Canoe Made from Disposable Chopsticks
By Rocky Thompson on April 8th, 2008Any idiot can slap a canoe together using some handmade forms in their garage, but it takes a really bored person to make one out of disposable chopsticks. This retired city hall employee in Japan built his from 7382 chopsticks glued together into a 66 pound, 13’ 4†boat. He’s planning to shove off into Lake Inawahiro this May with a full payload of takeout.

i am really into recycling and support for nature but this dude is just crazy. But i have to admit the canoe looks pretty smart. Although if he would have worked instead of buliding that canoe he could have bought 100 canoes for the money.

I’ve always wanted to build a woodstrip canoe. One of my neighbors tried and it was a big freaking mess. He’s not as handy as he thinks. Finally gave up. But chopsticks? That has to be the coolest thing I’ve seen in a while! Those suckers are so strong. And if arranged properly, the whole thing should be pretty tough. Though, 66 pounds is a little heavy for a woodstrip.
