‘Let Levi Ride’ Team Astana Online Petition

There’s an online petition that’s making a case for Team Astana and Levi Leipheimer to be allowed entry into the Tour de France. So far about 10,000 people have signed the petition, which is packaged in a Get-Out-the-Vote-style website. Team Astana was booted for a year after the last Tour’s doping scandal, but since then they’re replaced everyone except the sponsor. Astana would have a better chance at getting in the Tour if they changed their brand name and had all the riders could grow mustaches. If there’s anything we’ve learned about the Amaury Sports Organization (which owns the Tour), it’s that they don’t make these decisions based on anything that resembles logic.

Thanks Thrifty Steve

It’s worth noting that this is hardly a grassroots effort….It’s a web-site published by TREK. Be prepared for some TREK spam if you “sign”.
