Gossamer Whisper Ultralight Backpack Slight Upgrade from Handkerchief on Stick
By Rocky Thompson on January 24th, 2008
Lighter than a trash bag and nearly as waterproof. The Gossamer Whisper Uberlight Pack is a 4oz frameless wonder made for hikers who like to do without. It has one compartment, no zippers, and a thin fabric that requires you to pay special attention to the placement of tent poles and stakes. It’s good for lighting your load, but you won’t be able to carry firewood from home anymore. The Gossamer Whisper Uberlight Backpack costs $60.

What’s the point . . . I predict the next trend in backpacking will be uber-heavy . . . cast iron pots, canvas tents, and everything has a digital clock integrated into it just for fun.
uh, the point is to be able to hike without carrying as heavy load. duh. try walking 20 miles with 100lbs of cast iron on your back.
Tent poles??? You don’t carry a tent if you’re using a Whisper. As an owner of one I can tell you that.
They hike ‘nekked’ as we say in the South. thongs weigh too much
