The Gear Junkie wrote this article for Forbes Traveler detailing the top 20 resorts with the most snow in the world. The good news is that North America took four of the top five spots, and you only need to bow down to your snow overlords in Japan if you don’t ride at Mt. Baker in Washington.
1. Mt. Baker, Washington (641 inches)
2. Niseko, Japan (595 inches)
3. Alta, Utah (523 inches)
4. Alyeska, Alaska (513 inches)
5. Kirkwood, California (473 inches)
A convincing argument could be made about re-ranking the resorts according to snow quality and quantity. Utah resorts would be at the top; I doubt if we’d see Alyeska on the list.

BUT, the look on those Forbes-reading tourists’ faces when they see that those 513 inches of snow at Alyeska have magically turned into 513 inches of ice will be priceless!
What year are you basing this on? Alyeska should be on top with a record snowfall of 1100 inches in 1997! you should go to Alyeska its much better than MT. Baker
Mt Baker is nothing special, everybody should go ride Utah instead. I hear it’s much more friendly there, you can hang out with Rocky and you don’t have to worry about needing fat skis just to ride the ridiculous amounts of snow.
Rocky - is that the Buick?
Which of those top 5, other than Japan is outside North America? I’ve visited Utah (not for snow, though), and that place is weird, and gets my vote. I’ve got a Baker pass this year, and the powder is really stacking up. It went from 60″ base to 101″ in about 4 days. So much fun to ride.
