A guy I used to work with is trying to complete an unsupported expedition to the summit of Everest and the North and South Poles within one year. Eric Larsen of Minnesota is planning the ambitious expedition for 2009. It’s like planning a wedding two years out while knowing you’ll probably breakup with the girl, but there’s also a good chance Larsen will actually go through with this one. At least I’m pretty sure that I worked with him at Midwest Mountaineering—though there are a lot of Eric Larsons in the Midwest, I know I went to high school with two other ones.
