It didn’t take long for doctors to begin sterilizing their equipment after the discovery of germs, but it sure has taken backpackers a long time to sterilize their hands before eating. The idea is that the fewer germs and bacteria you consume, the less likely your risk of spending the camping trip frantically digging cat holes.
