mUV Micro-UV Water Purifier

The people at UV Aquastar have developed a water purifier to compete with the Hydro Photon UV Pen. I mean, it couldn’t have been too difficult—you just need to find a waterproof UV bulb to float in your water. The new 2.4oz mUV floating UV water purifier will treat 20 liters of water off one charge and you can recharge it off any 1 cell battery. The bad news is that the Hydro Photon didn’t do very well in the U.S. Army Center for Health Promotion and Preventative Medicine’s Water-Treatment shootout, and I can’t imagine the new mUV would do any better. The best options for purifying are still filters and chemicals.

That Army site does not list any UV light products as tested. They state that UV does work against bacteria, giardia, crypto and viruses as long as the water is reasonably clear. If it’s murky, you may have to zap it 2 or 3 times. Still faster and easier than anything else. Water temp and pH do not matter, unlike chemicals. You don’t have to wait 30 minutes to drink. You don’t have to clean filters that frequently clog.

The problem is most water that has to be filtered by the military isn’t reasonably clear so UV Bulbs don’t work in this case, & particles must be filtered out too! UV Bulbs don’t take out particles.

I believe it is so important to have a water filter in your home. I can have pure water without being concerned about what’s being added. I found my filter at http://www.lifeionizers.com/?utm_source=A&utm_medium=B&utm_campaign=C
