This hand-wrapping heart rate monitor relies on a technology called Plethysmography to measure your heart rate and blood pressure without requiring you to wear a belt around your chest. A sensor measures light reflected by the bloodstream in your finger artery, which is why the watch is bigger than a first generation Nintendo controller. Â The Beurer PM 100 Pulshur costs about $226.

Badass. Look nerdy, enjoy the benefits of a heart rate monitor, and avoid dealing with those stupid chest straps that have to be adjusted juuuuuust right or they tell you your heart has stopped beating or is beating at 255 beats per minute, and either way you’re dead.
