John Krakauer’s book Into the Wild has been made into a movie by Sean Penn that’s coming out this fall. It’s about a young man from Virginia who gives away his savings and wanders alone into the Alaskan wilderness where hunters find him dead several months later. When I heard Sean Penn was on the project, I hoped the character would be a lot more like the classic wandering teen Jeff Spicoli.
Into the Wild has the same message as Krakauer’s Into Thin Air—the wilderness is an unforgiving place to live out your dreams. It’s an engaging story that had me cheering the intentions of the guy who dies, if not his methods.

that looks way awesome and more accurate then vertical limit. *lame…*
How dare you diss Vertical Limit!! That was such the best climbing movie ever!! You can always find plutonium on a climb!
Kidding of course, but this does look great, was a great story however, I just hope the movie doesn’t send too many hippy wanna bee’s off to Alaska to live off the land….I guess it’s just enforcing the Survival of the Fittest.
