GSI H2JO Nalgene Coffee Maker

gsi-coffee-maker

It’s hard to believe that something so genius in its simplicity took this long to create. The GSI H2JO is a coffee filter that screws into your Nalgene. You fill it with grounds and then screw your Nalgene cap on top of the GSI H2JO and let it sit until it’s cool enough to drink. The only potential problem is that the liter of coffee you made in an non-insulated Nalgene would get cold before you could chug it down. The GSI H2JO is $10.

If you’re looking for more coffee items like this - you can get the Jetboil French Press or the Preva Cafe xSport espresso maker. Both work great for camping.

Just make sure to use the old flexible nalgenes. The newer lexan Nalgenes have a lot of problems with leaching of toxic chemicals into your drink. Using hot water accelerates the process. The older nalgenes have a different form of plastic that isn’t as likely to leach.

Also you’ll never use that nalgene for anything else - perma-coffee taste to go along with those leaching toxins.

It looks like a portable french press. I got one of these at a local coffee shop and it works pretty well. Great for avoiding caffeine withdrawal on those long backpacking trips. My buddies thank you!
