Missed the Cold Water Surf Fest last week because you couldn’t find your 7mm wetsuit? It’s okay, a couple guys from the Lake Superior Surf Club wrote this North Shore surf guide. The nice thing about 35F water and stormy weather is that the breaks don’t get too crowded. Locals are more likely to give you tips on how to prevent your board from icing up than they are to try and intimidate you into leaving their break. The Lake Superior North Shore Surf Guide’s a steal at only $8.50, and the Superior Surf Club is selling it online—but be careful on their forum, my friend got kicked off for posting this picture.

As a Duluthian, I know how serious these guys take their surfing. There’s never a “bad day” for them to paddle out on the mouth of the Lester river to catch a break.
