Plywood Bikes

When the steels-is-real crowd shunned advanced composites for the natural feel of Reynolds double- and triple-butted steel frames, they may have not gone far enough back in time. This designer claims that the same properties that make wood ideal for high end canoes and kayaks makes it suitable for bikes. I’m not sure what’s dual about the JANO Dual Bike, but the frame is made from molded plywood that the designer says offers the bump absorption of carbon fiber and the positive handling of steel. Plus you can break it up for firewood in a survival situation.
