The Snowboard Brake

snowboard brake

On the list of useless inventions, the Snowboard Brake is somewhere between miniature filing cabinets and bathroom hand driers. The Snowboard Brake attaches next your back foot and forces a pin into the snow in the unlikely event that the force of your crash is great enough to rip your boots out of your bindings. A more likely scenario in which a snowboard brake would be useful is when someone too preoccupied with sculpting the lip of their kicker lets a board get away from them. It’s not a terrible idea if it prevents those kinds of accidents, but I don’t think we need to burden all snowboarders with this thing just because a few idiots can’t keep track of their boards.

This is almost as dumb as releasable snowboard bindings.

    Snowboard brakes = dumb

Bathroom hand dryers = environmentally beneficial

I thought they already invented something that performed a similar job called a leash?

I know my board has one and I use it.

  4. pembertim

the leash attaches your boot/leg to your binding so when you rip all eight bolts out of your board it will still slide away… these things make total sense and all slowboarders should be ordered to use them

  5. skimaxpower

Pembertim: Have you ever seen someone rip ALL the bolts out of BOTH bindings at the SAME TIME? You gotta be kidding me.

And I don’t think anyone ever made headway by “ordering” a snowboarder to do anything.

    SARCASM max, SARCASM

snowboarding is so 1994, everyone does it, get a clue it was cancelled long ago..doesn’t Paris Hilton snowboard?

  8. whiskyTango

    Hypersailor
A snow board is about the only thing that Paris does not ride.

  9. No Rear entry for me

Umm, this thing would be great for those folks who for some crazy reason think that $500 rear entry bindings are the way to go…even if they double eject from them after hitting a small bump.

    funniest post ever

    Supresmooth uses a leash.

Pembertim: On second read, I suppose that post was dripping with sarcasm. My apologies: you were, in fact, kidding me.

Wow, this inventor has way to much time on his/her hands………….

Pull your head at of the snow guys. Pleantly of people have been seriously injured due to runaway boards.
Just ask the 9 year old who got cleaned up last week 26/7/07 at Thredbo and ended up in hospital.

The guy who own the board said exactly what tyou guys are saying.

A leash does alot when you go inside at the top of the mountain for a coffee etc. Think about.

amazing the small minded people who injure thousands of people by dropping their boards , while saying that a device to stop the problem is bad ???? grow up !!
you probably feel that an avalanche probe & epirb is useless to
