Setbacks in Women’s Cycling

flirtees

Flirtees makes cycling-themed women’s T-shirts. They don’t all imply that women understand nothing of the technical nature of bikes or that women are more interested in a “Tour de France” of shopping than biking—some of their shirts make fun of men shaving their legs. Their shirts sell for about $25. If you want something a little less dumbed-down, try out Vital women’s shirts.

Whats your source for crappy t-shirt makers this week?

    Hi to all women cyclists,

I am the designer of Flirtees t-shirts. I started designing cycling t-shirts not to make fun of women cyclists but of myself. These are all things I’ve thought about or have happened to me or my friends.
For example the t-shirt shown is how I bought my first road bike. Although I wanted a bike with great componentry I kept looking at the awful colour and honestly asked if it came in a different colour. My husband bought his bike based on looks. As for Molly the character she is just someone who gives anything a try but isn’t afraid to fail. She likes to look good, be a little girlie and just have fun.
I know many women out there who love to mountain bike or road ride who are girlie. They talk about hair products as much as they talk about bikes.
So if you think I’m trying to set back women’s cycling all I’m trying to do is let women know it’s not just for the exceptionally athletic. It’s for all of us who just like to get out and ride. This can be an intimidating sport and it doesn’t have to be. I love to go out and ride with my friends, laugh and gossip as we “Enjoy the Ride”.

    Happy riding,
    Tanya
