You could limp to the nearest bike shop in your Chrome Shants, but I’m sure that messenger bag full of rocks would really be killing your back by the time you arrived. Fixing flat tires on your fixed gear’s rear wheel is a problem unless you’re smart enough to carry a 15mm Craftsman wrench in the aforementioned messenger bag. But who wants to carry a heavy wrench all the time? Just attach your bike lock key to the Surly
Jethro Tule
. One side pries the tops off beer bottles while an off-set wrench on the other side can loosen your rear wheel. It’s a really short tool, so getting the leverage necessary to loosen a wheel is tough—sometimes you have to set it on the axel nut and stand on the end to break them loose. Regardless, it’s still pretty handy.
