Petzl Emergency Lighting

Petzl has an emergency headlamp out this spring that has a shelf life of 10 years and will run for 4 consecutive nights. The E Lite Emergency Headlamp weighs one ounce so you can count on the light-is-right crowd throwing out their Petzl Zipkas for these survival-camping headlamps. The headlamp is tiny and works surprisingly well, but I don’t think I’d ever use one. If I was going to buy an emergency light for my car I would get something a lot bigger—plus I know that my friends would never stop giving me a hard time if I ever put one of these on, regardless of how dark the hike got.
