Mesh Climbing Shoes

Five Ten’s latest climbing shoe uses a perforated upper to try to get a handle on the heady bouquet of sweat and fungus coming out of most climbing shoes. Until Five Ten figures out a way to build their shoes from a synthetic that inhibits bacteria growth, they’re not going to have too much luck creating climbing shoes that don’t stink. If you can get over the metallic Devo color of the Gambits, it’s actually fairly comfortable by climbing shoe standards. The aforementioned perforations give it a bit of a stretch that other Cowdura shoes lack. It’s a bit of an intermediate shoe, and if I ever had aspirations to climb above 5.11 I might feel differently.
