Pre-Broken-in Bike Shoes
By Rocky Thompson on March 5th, 2007If you’re one of those bikers that drops down a couple sizes on your road shoes, you’ll probably be pretty excited to spend $300 on Shimano’s custom-fit shoes. The M300 and R300 shoes use the same plastic-bag-and-vacuum-pump system to custom mold shoes that Superfeet uses for its insoles. You make the insoles first, then heat up the shoe, wrap it in plastic, and turn on the pump. It sucks the shoe around your foot and compacts the foam around any bulky, odd shapes. You’re left with a shoe you don’t have to wear for a month before it breaks in. It’s not a bad deal since custom insoles go for about $120 on their own—it just depends on how much cash you’re willing to pay to skip a month of pain and numb feet.

I need some casual used bike shoes cheap in the next couple of weeks. my size is US 12/46-47.
[...] Footbeds can turn a pair of agonizingly painful ski boots into a pair of barely tolerable ski boots, so why shouldn’t they do the same for the rest of your shoes? Sole offers a custom moldable footbed you can make at home for about $30 instead of paying about $120 for some high school dropout to make them in an outdoor store. Molding the footbeds is a fairly simple process that involves heating them in an oven before standing on them (not too hard). If you like Sole’s running shoe and mountaineering footbeds, you’ll have to try out the Slim Style—it has a cool pattern on top you’ll show off at every chance. By Rocky Thompson [...]
