The Answer to Rotten Snowfall: Stay at Home (and Ski)
By Rocky Thompson on February 19th, 2007
My old boss bought one of these personal snowmakers for our store. We plugged it into the compressor, hooked up the garden hose, and then stood back waiting for the magic to happen. I think he must have expected the machine to start puking snow blanketing the boat yard, because he looked really disappointed a couple hours later when it had just settled into a fine frost over the ground. It was going to be harder to build a snow cave than we expected.
Snow at Home is a new company, but their products are essentially the same. You hook up the compressor and water, and then let it water your lawn. Their SG5 Snowmaker will set you back about $750, but they say it makes up to 4x as much snow as their SG4, which is how much again?
On a side note, did you know that it’s Presidents’ Day? I haven’t even bought anything on sale.
