Carjack Knife
By Rocky Thompson on February 13th, 2007I’ve never carried a knife, nor have a I accepted the notion that knife people espouse that you’ll never be able to live without a knife once you start carrying it. The one possible exception that I’ll admit is if you were to start carrying the Gerber Rescue Knife and they drove your car off a bridge the next day. The knife has a seatbelt cutter in case you can’t work the belt release and a window punch for your H2’s electric windows. Oddly enough, the Gerber Rescue Knife also has an oxygen tank wrench—so I guess you can adjust the oxygen tank pressure to your liking when the rescue crew arrives.

I drive with this in my teeth, pirate style, all the time. I cut my seat belt to get out of the car, and I smash the window out at the Wendy’s drive-through.
I don’t even know how I survived before my Gerber Rescue Knife!
Being a Firefighter/EMT I carry this knife around with me at all times. Yea, it’s funny to joke about it’s features, but it really is a great knife. If you know anything about EMS it’s that patient safety is one of the most important things and the blunt tip and seat belt cutter were created with patient safety in mind. The oxygen opener comes in handy as you can never find yours when you need it and the window punch is designed with extrication operations in mind. Laugh all you want, but this is a great knife for what it was created for.
