ISPO began in Munich on Sunday, and I spent the morning plodding around the massive tradeshow with my luggage until I almost fell out of the Line Skis Tram-style booth. I thought it was moving around because it was suspended, but it turned out that I was just overtired and the booth was fixed on the ground.
ISPO is the single big outdoor industry tradeshow in Europe, while in the US individual sports have their own overproduced shows. I think the reason there are so many small niche brands in Europe is because they only need to come to this show. Sure, their spot on the show floor’s going to cost them about $30k, but at least they’ll be able to reach everyone in one go.
