Black Diamond’s offering their Avalung in two backcountry skiing backpacks for this winter. The Avalung is designed to pull air out of the snowpack when you’re waiting for rescue after getting caught in a slide. The trick is getting the mouthpiece in and then not letting the snow crush all the air out of your chest when you get buried.
