The Next Best Thing: Burton System Jacket

You shake on the chairlift and sweat on the descent. Your flannel-lined Polaris jacket might be a big hit with the ladies, but you’ll need a new jacket before taming the local hill this winter. Enter the Burton AK System Jacket. This thing might be overkill in mild winters, but on the East Coast or in the Pacific Northwest this jacket will set you free. A trim goose down jacket under a 3-layer Gore-Tex hardshell will keep you warm and dry no matter how cold it gets. The best part of this Burton jacket is that you don’t need to layer. Just wear a T-shirt underneath and open the pitzips when you overheat. Without all the mid layers and base layers you’ll actually be able to cool off before you’re soaked in sweat.
