From Simple Chairs to Brand Suicide

By Rocky Thompson on August 23rd, 2006

The company that made its name with an incredibly simple camp is making shelters that are harder to use than Suunto watches. Crazy Creek might make great chairs, but their Crazy Crib is one of the worst designed hammocks on the market. It uses a tarp you hang between the two perfectly spaced trees you’ve already found to hang you hammock and no-see-um netting stretches over the top. The biggest problems are the odd top entry and the two aluminum hoops that spring load the whole thing guaranteeing a zipper break. Not only is it super hard to get into and put up, it’s basically guaranteed that the zippers will blow out in the backcountry.

well, not only that, but do youremember when you slept out on the trampoline when you were a kid? Do you remember crawling into the house at 3AM because you were freezing your ass off? It sucks to sleep 3 feet off the ground– there is no insulation underneath you, and when that nice night chill blows in…. Brrrrrr!!!!

Glad i never drink a suitcase of beer when camping, and that i never have to go whiz at 4 am getting in and out of this thing half cocked would be similar to entering and exiting a moving helicopter.
